Supporting Immigration Community Advocates

These videos will not teach people how to be an immigration attorney (which is the unauthorized practice of law and a crime!) but instead will help community advocates know how to best support our immigrant community with resources and the best referrals possible.

Employment Immigration – Track. This engaging 6-7 credit CLE will feature presentations regarding the daunting issues employment-based immigration attorneys are facing, including updates regarding dealing with CBP for non-immigrant petitions, responding to often nonsensical Requests for Evidence, and handling ethical challenges in the context of representing employment-based clients.

Family Based Immigration and Removal – Track. Gail Pendleton of ASISTA will be presenting on three separate panels and taking LIVE questions from attendees. Plenary session lunchtime Speaker Luis Cortes will speak about arguing for DACA in front of SCOTUS.

Basic Immigration Law – Track. Experienced Northwest Immigrant Rights Project attorneys will guide new attorneys and legal assistants using the materials they use to train their newly hired advocates. This will be an excellent opportunity to have your support staff trained in current immigration law by the best.

Sincerely,
Laura Lindley-Gutierrez, Attorney –
AILA NW CLE Conference Co-Chair
