Ethics / Office Organization and Management
This presentation is geared toward a new attorney starting out in practice at a law firm or non-profit organization. A messy work environment, we have been told, is a sign of genius. As lawyers, however, we must observe ethics rules which include the duty of client confidentiality; the duty of competence; and prohibitions against representing clients whose interests conflict. A messy work environment can make us susceptible to lost documents, missed deadlines, and conflicts of interests. This presentation will provide an overview of how to organize and track clients, cases, and important deadlines. Attend and learn how to serve your clients well, not become overwhelmed by your caseload and reduce the possibility of having to use your malpractice insurance.
