US CBP Update
Our presentation will discuss hot topics and recent trends at the northern border during the pandemic. We will review the various proclamations that have been issued, the border closure, what is “essential travel,” and the impact the changes have had on cross-border business. We will explore how CBP is handling requests for national-interest exemptions and requests for satisfactory departure. We will look back at the pilot programs that were tested at the northern border for both waiver applications (E-safe) and L-adjudications, and talk about current processing trends. We will discuss the increased use of heavy-handed enforcement practices such as expedited removal at the ports. We will also look at other policy changes that are affecting travelers including those in the essential services such as trucking.
